title={Developing Mobile Applications For Children},
abstract={The challenge of designing software applications is an enormous area for discussion. Designing an application for kids is one part of this area and it in itself raise many
questions. It is this area which will be the focus of this project. I will discuss several aspects which need to be taken into consideration when designing something for small
children; including deciding on the graphical layout of an application, how to maneuver within the application, how to preempt a child's unpredictability, how to break away from gender stereotypes and how to commercialize a product aimed at children. Other authors have written discussion about what should be taken into consideration when designing for children and I have combined their results together with my own reasoning to create a sort
of guide over what to think about. In conjunction with these discussions I have created an
Android game which incorporates the results of the discussions in order to make an easy to
use product which is both entertaining and educational. The game is a learning tool intended to help children connect words with objects, with the ability to allow for
customization should the parent or any other authoritarian individual wish to specify the area of learning. I in the discussions relate to how results are incorporated in the
application and what affect they have on design choices.},
